Woke up at the hotel. No matter what, .... I headed for the Bandai-Azuma Skyline first. The pain in my shoulder blades has faded, probably due to the hot springs and stretching last night, and I'm able to ride the bike better than yesterday.
It was a little cold in the morning. I thought it would be even colder on the mountain, so I changed my gloves from mesh to winter gloves and wore a 2,000 yen zip-up hoodie I bought at GU in Fukushima City yesterday under my leather jacket. By the way, it was my first time to go to GU.
As it was the last day of GW, there was little traffic in the city and mountains, and we arrived there in no time. It's really nice and easy to ride..... Too bad about the weather!.....
If it was a clear day, the view would be spectacular......
Nevertheless, it was a pleasant winding road along the ridgeline. We stopped on the shoulder of the road at some points to take pictures, but we didn't stop at Tsubakuro-dani or Jyododaira, and quickly reached an altitude of 1,600 meters.
This point. When I was touring on the new Ninja 1000 last May 5th.was like this.......
This year has been warm (or rather, hot), so the snow corridor is not even a shadow of its former self.
After this, there were a few areas where there was snow on both sides of the road, but we passed through them without stopping to enjoy the winding road. I still have the video on my helmet-mounted GoPro, so I'm ruminating about it on my TV at home.
Bandai Azuma Lakeline in fine weather
After passing the Skyline, we continued on to the Lakeline. As we dropped in elevation, the temperature rose and the weather became super nice.
I wondered if it would be possible to go back to the Skyline again for better weather and a better view? I wondered if it would be possible to go back to the Skyline again for better weather and a better view, but I'm sure I'll be going back there several times this year anyway. I decided to save it for that time and moved on. The road along the lakeside was very smooth and private.
We took a break at the usual resting point, looking out over the lake, and then headed for the Gold Line.
We went to lunch from the Bandai-san Gold Line.
When Lake Inawashiro comes into view, the fun winding road comes to an end.
As usual, I had no plan, so I had no idea what to do next, but I was getting a little hungry since I came out without breakfast. I googled on my phone and found a soba noodle shop that looked good, so I set my sights on it. On the route, I took a side trip to admire Mt.....
We arrived just in time for lunch. I had a big bowl of soba noodles and a bowl of sauce katsu-don (pork cutlet on rice) at a restaurant with a 3.5 rating on the food log.
Traffic jam alert. Going home early.
After eating, we continued to wander around the shores of Lake Inawashiro, but... The temperature is rising... The leather jacket that I wore because I thought it would be too cold to wear a mesh jacket was draining my energy gauge.... It's the last day of GW, so traffic is expected to be heavy on the way up. I've already paid for unlimited expressway rides. And I have to work tomorrow morning.
This time, we decided to leave early and quickly headed for the Tohoku highway. We had our first soft-serve ice cream at the SA.
If we get stuck in traffic, we can get off at Utsunomiya and eat gyoza, right? We drove along the Tohoku Highway, thinking that we could get off at Utsunomiya and eat gyoza if we got stuck in traffic, but there was hardly any congestion..... I arrived home in no time at all.
The rain and wind prevented us from touring around the northern Tohoku region, but this was the end of our GW touring for this year.
