What is Bike Month?

In 1989, the Traffic Safety Task Force of the Government's General Affairs Agency (now the Cabinet Office) designated August 19 as Motorcycle Day with the aim of eradicating traffic accidents.
Traffic safety offices of local governments and local police departments across the country will be holding motorcycle safety driving seminars and other events around this August 19.
Similarly, motorcycle-related organizations are holding events to raise awareness of motorcycle traffic safety and to promote the usefulness of motorcycles.
In addition, in July 2000, the three months from July to September of each year were designated as "Motorcycle Month" in order to promote understanding of the fun, convenience, usefulness, and other wonders of the motorcycle lifestyle among as many people as possible. Since then, a number of activities have been held throughout the country.
