I'd only seen pictures like this before.......
There is a road that I have been wondering about for a long time. Please take a look at this photo first.
It's as if the highland roads of Europe are on a different level..........
That's what I thought when I first saw a picture of this road: ....... But this is a road in Japan. I don't remember where I first saw the picture, but even then I thought, "Wow! I want to go for a ride!" But unfortunately, I couldn't tell the name of the place from the picture. I think it was a column article or something, but I was reading it slant by slant, so I could only barely grasp that it was in Japan.
One of the requirements for a scenic road is that it must run along a mountain ridge. The Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen Route and the Nishi-Izu Skyline meet this requirement.
And these two routes are my favorite routes that I visit most often for day touring: .... but the ridge degree (≒beautiful view degree) may be higher here!......
Tsugaru-Iwaki Skyline
But today. I was browsing through various people's touring reports and blog posts during my break time, and I found thisThe name of this road is"Tsugaru-Iwaki Skyline"I found out that it was!
The Tsugaru-Iwagi Skyline is the first toll road in Aomori Prefecture, which runs from the area around Haguro Onsen Village, past Take-onsen on the Hirosaki-Ajigasawa prefectural road, up to the eighth station of Mt.
The total length of the road is 9.8 km, with 69 curves, and a gate (toll gate) is located 1 km from the starting point. From the gate, the road continues to curve and curve, and as you ascend through the dense primeval beech forest, your view gradually widens, and you can see the white coast of the Sea of Japan lapping against the waves. As you approach the parking lot at the end of the route, the view becomes more magnificent, and you can see Matsumaezaki in Hokkaido in the north, Gongenzaki and Lake Juso on the Tsugaru Peninsula, the gentle arc of Shichiri-Nagahama, and Ajigasawa to Otoze at a glance. On a clear day, you can also see Oshima and Kojima, which are known for Esashi Oiwake in Hokkaido, floating in the Sea of Japan, and the magnificent view is said to be the best among all toll roads in Japan.

So, this is the year for Tohoku.
I've been saying since last year that I'm going to "explore the touring routes of Tohoku", but in reality, I've only toured to Fukushima three times: ..... From there, the northern part of the country is unexplored.
I was smiling as I looked at the map, Tsugaru-Iwaki Skyline is only about 130km away from Hachimantai Aspite Line, another unexplored scenic road.
Moreover, Fukaura Town is also close by. Last year, a family I know moved here from Tokyo, so I had a good reason to drop by for a visit.
In another month, I should be able to settle down with my work..... I think I'll be touring Aomori and Akita in late spring and early summer.......
