Leave it with me yesterday.
I've been doing some heavy maintenance on my Ninja 650. I've been calling around to find the last official new import stock in the Kanto area, so I bought the bike in Chiba. I bought it in Chiba, just across Tokyo Bay in Sodegaura.
I got an estimate from the store where I bought the car, and I found out that if I had 150,000 to 200,000 yen, I could do a lot of maintenance. But the store is a bit far.... I can take the Ninja to the shop, but I can't go back to the shop and pick it up after maintenance....orz
By the way, when I graduated from the company"I've ridden enough, I'm not taking the train anymore."I've made a vow that I won't take the train (including the subway, but excluding the Shinkansen) more than once this year.
So I recently went to a Kawasaki specialty store in my neighborhood. It's a small, privately owned store, but it's within walking distance, and it's a limited liability company, so I figured if it's been in business for at least a decade, it's safe.I went for a consultation and got a quote.
The suggested maintenance items were much less than the store I bought the car from, but I had a good impression that they would have omitted the parts that were not necessary since I brought the car in for consultation. The quoted price itself was considerably higher than that of the store I bought the car from, but since I have a relationship with them in the future, and they didn't lose any profit on the purchase of the car, and I myself am a person who sells technology for a living, I agreed without bargaining even a single yen.
So, yesterday, Thursday, after the meeting in Koto-ku, I ate Kameido Gyoza and then went to the restaurant.
I came home and left the car with them. It's the first time I've asked for a vehicle, and it's going to be disassembled from here on out, and I'll pay for any additional costs that arise, so if you need any additional work or parts, please call me in advance.
By the way, he said, "I have three other vehicles that need heavy maintenance, so I can't do it next week..." I said, "I've already booked the rental bikes for next week and the week after, so the second week of December will be fine. I said, "I've already reserved the bike for next week and the week after, so the second week of December is fine.
Call me today.
So today. I had an appointment with an acquaintance to eat sushi in Akasaka at night, so I left my house by car. On the way, I was stopped at a traffic light in front of a motorcycle shop.I saw a soaking wet Ninja 650 in the rain and felt sorry for it.
I told him that I wanted to buy PIRELLI Angel GT2 or METZLER ROADTEC01, but he recommended MICHELIN Pilot Power2CT. It's a small store, so if you're looking for a rough-and-ready tire, you can afford the latest touring tires... The price was almost 10,000 yen more than the price of the BATTLAX T31 that I'm wearing now, but I asked them to include it in the quote.
So I thought about it for a day and thought, "I should get the latest radial tires, not the ones that were released more than 10 years ago, because they are directly related to performance. I was thinking, "I should call the store and tell them that I don't want to change the tires," so I called the store. It was a hands-free call while I was driving the car....
Me
”I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm calling to make two points."
Motorcycle shop
”Yes, what is it?"
Me
”First of all, I would like to use a newer brand of tires, so if you haven't ordered the Pilot Power2 yet, please let me cancel it. If you have already ordered them, that's fine."
Motorcycle shop
"Okay, I'll cancel it."
Me
”Secondly, I just drove by your store and my bike was soaking wet, so.... I'm totally okay with it being stored outside, but I'll bring you the bike cover I use at home tomorrow, so could you please keep it covered while it's outside?"
Motorcycle shop
”Mm-hmm...."
Me
”(What am I thinking about?) (What am I thinking about?) Oh, I'm totally okay with leaving it outside, but I usually cover it, so I'm a little worried about leaving it out in the open."
Motorcycle shop
”I'm afraid I can't do that...."
Me
”(What? Why? No explanation as to why in the first place?) Oh, is that so?"
Motorcycle shop
”That's the only way I can store it, so if you don't like it, can we cancel this case?"
Me
”(Oh, I shouldn't go out with this store.) Oh, cancel it then."
This is the conversation that I had with my friend.
first thing from the other side"Why don't you cancel?"I don't think they're going to be able to do any serious maintenance on it. I'm going to have to cancel the order.
Am I the one who's crazy?
So, I went to a sushi restaurant in Akasaka with a feeling of unease. This restaurant is an affiliate of the two Michelin-starred Ginza Sushi Kanesaka, but it's quite famous because you can't even make a reservation unless you belong to a certain organization. It is a miraculous sushi restaurant where you can enjoy the taste of a Michelin-starred restaurant, but the price is the same as a slightly expensive barbecue restaurant.
So, while eating some snacks before nigiri, I put the story of the motorcycle shop on the chopping block of conversation with my friend.
”That's a bad story that's no fun when you're eating good sushi."
While joking with each other, the two of them said, "In a normal business sense, that's not the right way to handle it, is it?
After that, we just talked about fun things and finished the meal.
Hmmm. I'm running a small IT company myself, and if one of my staff members were to respond in the manner described above, I'd probably give him a lecture.
More than that.
There are some bike shops that will ask you to cover your bike to protect it from the wind and rain, and then say, "We can't do that, so if you don't want to, cancel the service."Careful maintenance"I don't think you'll be able to do that at all.
I don't want to leave it at that bike shop for even one day, so I'm going to pull the Ninja 650 out tomorrow even though it's supposed to rain again.
Am I the one who's crazy?
After 2020, Kawasaki will be reorganizing its sales network so that all bikes over 401cc will only be sold at Kawasaki Plaza, and I'm worried that they won't be able to make a living if they offer that level of hospitality to maintenance requests... What is it really?
If we assume that"It's not a lucrative job."Even if it was something like that, I haven't bargained for the estimate even a millimeter, and I've told them that I'll pay for any work that needs to be done, but... It's a real mystery.
So, if my senses are wrong, maybe I should reflect on them... So, if I'm wrong, maybe I should reflect on it...
