staple (for a stapler)
Now, the uncoiling. I've been neglecting this project since I bought the tools, but today I tried to work on it while watching TV.
The first step is to pull out the stapler that holds the seat skin and the main body together tightly.
When I gouged it out with a thin flathead screwdriver, it came out easily. I worked on it for about an hour while watching TV.......
I was able to pull it out quite smoothly.
I peeled the skin off.
And then. I peeled off the sheet without thinking......
Ooh. On top of the normal anko, there is a thin plastic sheet that looks like saran wrap. I guess it's waterproof.
However, it may get in the way of gluing on the new anchor, so let's take the liberty of peeling this off as well.
Now, what am I going to do?.....
Then I put on the low rebound sponge I bought from Amazon to repair the seat.......
I think for about 10 seconds about how to proceed after this: ...... The edges need to be reshaped so that they look nice when they are finally covered.
I'll go with the messy work.
So, I decided to go with the easiest way, and put bond on the back of the sponge......
Glued directly to the seat: .... So I sat on top of it for a while and watched TV......
I stuck to it with a reasonably good adhesion.
All that's left to do is to shape it, waterproof it with Saran Wrap or something, and then attach the seat skin with a tacker..... But I realized that I don't have any saran wrap at home.
So I'll continue later......
I'd like to try it out when I'm touring this weekend. This seat.
Oh, and by the way, I ordered that thing......
I'm sorry.
In the end, I asked the store where I bought the Ninja 650 to order the parts for me, but the front fork springs were out of stock, as I had been told by Carrozzeria Japan, an authorized OHLINS distributor.....
They said they will import the next lot, so it will be next year before I can install it!........
One more touring trip and the odometer will reach 8,000km, so I'm planning to go to the bike shop for oil and filter change..... I think I'll just install the rear one at that time.......
