Please note
I've been there, so I wrote an article about it.However, as of April 22, 2018, the day after my visit, access to the Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen route from the Kusatsu Onsen side is no longer available for the time being. I think you can get there from the Nagano side or Manza Onsen.

It opens on April 20th!
The Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen Route is open!
Although the eruption of Honshiranesan is still fresh in our minds, the warning level has been lowered and the Kusatsu area is now open for traffic again this year. However, the warning level has been lowered and the road will be open again this year. However, there will be shelters for evacuation...... If you are not coming from Kusatsu, but from Yudanaka or Shibu, you don't have to worry about that at all.
The Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen route is my favorite road in the day touring area from home. I'm sure I'll be going there many times this year, but right after the opening, this is a special place.
Yes, you can ride your bike to the snow corridor!
This year I'm going with Ninja.
You can see the height of last year's snow wall in the photo, but this year there was a lot of snow, so I think we can expect even more intensity than last year.
Last year, by the way.I took a rental bike, a Harley-Davidson XL1200X Forty-Eight.So, this year I would like to go with Ninja.
The snow corridor, which can be ridden by motorcycles, was also opened last year. The New Ninja 1000 as a Rental BikeThere is also the Bandai-Azuma Skyline, which we did in the previous section, but the Shiga-Kusatsu Kogen route is more promising in terms of altitude.
So, on Saturday, April 21, I will be going to Kusatsu in the morning. This is the snow corridor. If possible, I'd like to go there on Friday, the first day of the festival, because the snow walls become covered with graffiti and blackened by exhaust fumes after a while. I'll try to adjust my work schedule.
By the way, next month's rental bike reservation status.....
The touring season is finally in full swing, and I've already booked hotels in the three Tohoku prefectures for GW.....
Touring will be in progress again this year. I'll be riding my Ninja 650, of course, but I'm also planning on renting a bike, and as of today, I've reserved the following two bikes.
The Kawasaki Z1000 and the third StoFy test ride.......
What's in your blood? .... YAMAHA YZF-R6 is making its SS debut.....
Hmmm. I'm starting to think that renting a fast bike is enough......
