Knowing Spring by Road Surface Temperature
The maximum temperature has risen to near 20 degrees Celsius for the past few days. The parking lot of my house is also covered with petals from cherry blossoms that bloomed nearby... It's spring!
I've been refraining from riding my bike to work in Tokyo for a while because I didn't want to get hurt by mistake.
The tire pressure was a little lower than I had set during the winter, but I set it a little higher than the default pressure I like.
In the winter, the wind can chill the bike, and when I touch it after stopping, the rear wheel is a little warm but the front wheel is cold, so I set the air pressure a little lower just in case (2.0kpa, 10% less than the Ninja 650 default)....
It's been a while since I've set my preferred air pressure (2.3kpa on the front wheel, 2.7kpa on the rear wheel, a little higher than the default), and I'm enjoying riding my bike even more because it's light and easy to corner.
The route from my house to the Tsuzuki Interchange on the Daisan Keihin Expressway, which I used to take back and forth a lot when I was nursing my cat, has a winding descent through a hilly residential area, and every time I drive there lately, I feel"Unreliability of the front desk"It also eliminates things like.
Now that the odometer has reached 25.000km, I thought it was time for an overhaul of the front forks and suspension, but it seems that the air pressure that I had dropped during the winter had a big impact.
Front wheel:2.5kpa/rear wheel:2.9kpa
Ever since my Ninja 400 days, I've always preferred higher air pressure. When I switched to PIRELLI Angel ST tires on my Ninja 400, I read somewhere that the manufacturer's recommended air pressure was 2.5 for the front wheel and 2.9 for the rear wheel, and after consciously checking the ride quality at slightly higher pressures, I found that I clearly preferred slightly higher pressures than the default.
The tire I'm wearing now is BRIDGESTONE's BATTLAX T31, which like the Angel ST is a touring tire with a bit of a sporting flavor.
The truth is.I wanted to wear METZLER's ROADTEC 01 or PIRELLI Angel GT, but they were not in stock at the store, so I chose them by elimination.Tires.
After I got my license, most of the bikes I rented were equipped with BRIDGESTONE S20 or DUNLOP D214, and I felt that they turned better and had a better feel on the ground compared to T31. I felt like I was going to regret my choice of T31s....
I thought to myself, "If I raise the air pressure a little higher, I'll like this better. I feel. If you Google it, you can find opinions like this....
I also found this tweet from a guy who rides an ER-6n (naked version of the Ninja 650).
I've heard a lot of people say that "lower inflation pressures than the default are recommended when driving on the track," but at least when driving at a fun touring pace, I think it's best to use the inflation pressures that the latest touring tires were designed for. At the very least, it will give you the ride you personally prefer.
I've seen interviews with tire developers who say that they use higher air pressure to secure rigidity against softer materials and structures... This is a concept I've seen in interviews with tire developers.
Okay, this weekend is the first time in a long time that I'm going to go touring and try it out on the twisty roads.
