I mentioned this in a recent article.Ducati's Multistrada 1200 campaign offers 24 hours of free test ridesI borrowed it at
Brembo brake calipers, cruise control, cantilevered swing arm, keyless ignition Lost my virginity.
The dealership is a 10-minute walk from my house, and they said they would take care of my bike, so I took the Ninja.
Unlike the Kawasaki Plaza where I usually go, there was only one male staff member out of the five or six people in the store. In the past, when I went to see the Sixty2 (even though it was only available with a medium license), I was recommended the Diavel Carbon, and this test ride was handled by a female staff member. I guess that's probably more efficient for sales.
There was no reply to my web request, so I made a reservation by phone.I was not asked to show any kind of ID at all, let alone confirm that I had a large-sized license. I feel like my bike will be stolen if they write my fake name and address on the application form, but maybe they just didn't ask because I left my Ninja with them?
I quickly went through the procedures, rented the actual vehicle, and went back to my house to pick up my touring gear in the Alpha body bag that I bought for the unloaded rental bike and seat bag.
By the way, it is just the right size to hold my iPad and my B5 system notebook, so I've been taking it to work with me lately.
I'm planning to go touring with an acquaintance today, but there's plenty of time to spare before the meeting time, so I take a look at the Multistrada in my parking lot.
I'm not a big fan of leggy adventure bikes, but this one is just plain cool.
Here are some notes on my impressions. Please note that this is the ramblings of an amateur.
I got in.
Immediately after I borrowed it, I felt very uncomfortable with the upright riding posture until I got to my house, but once I started riding, I realized that it was a very comfortable position. Today, I was touring around 320km down the road."travel motorcycle"It's no wonder that the leg-lengthening style is so popular.
The Multistrada itself is an excellent product, as you'd expect from Ducati. It's no wonder that a quick Google search turns up nothing but praise for the bike.
As a matter of fact, Multistrada fever cooled down immediately after returning the test vehicle, but that will be discussed at the end of this article: ......
Lovely place.
Aside from its basic performance of running, turning, and stopping, it is definitely a vehicle that will satisfy your desire to own.
I could run anywhere."Choose a motorcycle to go around Japan"If I had to choose, I would choose this one. It's a well-built vehicle that seems to be able to run forever and ever. As I rode it, I thought to myself, "With this, I can easily go to Azumino for lunch and come back.
Exceptionally cool for a leggy type. The design is not to everyone's taste, but it is indeed an Italian bike. The details are elaborate and the design looks great even when riding in urban areas. I don't care if it can't be ridden off-road (I would never ride off-road even if I bought it because I don't want to get hurt on a bike in this price range), if it had an under cowl with the chin sticking out like this, it might be more to my liking.
A pulsating engine and a mysterious chassisIt was my first time to ride a two-cylinder big bike, and the heartbeat was just as I expected. However, strangely enough, the vibrations did not echo on the handlebars or steps, and my hands and feet did not go numb. I could feel the strong pulse of the engine and chassis through the seat, but it did not lead to fatigue.
Twice the fun in one carThe driving mode, which can be switched with a button on the steering wheel while driving, changes not only the power output but also the engine characteristics and suspension settings. This time, I was running mostly in TOURING mode, but"When you open the throttle a little louder like a twin with a smooth moving suspension, it starts to accelerate a little later than the rising heartbeat that raises the rpm."But when I switched to SPORT mode while driving on a mountain pass, the character of the car changed. However, when I switched to SPORT mode while driving on a mountain pass, the character of the car changed completely. The engine responded linearly to the opening and closing of the accelerator pedal. The suspension was also noticeably stiffer and tighter, making it a fun sports car. However, if you drive in SPORT mode, your ass will hurt because of the hard suspension.
Auto-Cruise is very convenient.Cruising on the highway is super easy. When cruising at a constant speed, I realized that I was using a lot of nerve to hold the gas pedal. I also used it when I was stuck on a wide area farm road or bypass with four wheels in front of me, but I was able to use it on regular roads as well because I could adjust the acceleration and deceleration subtly with the switch at hand.
Hmm? What is it?
It's a well-made car, but there are some minor things that bother me......
exhaust soundIt has a sensual L-twin sound, and I downshifted in the tunnel to enjoy the sound. ...... It was a little too loud. The parking lot in my apartment building is so close to my neighbor's room that I have to feel guilty every time I leave or return home late at night or early in the morning. .... It's hard to convey in the video: .....
hot (thing)The heat from the engine was unavoidable, but the radiator hose on the left calf and the heat from the bottom of the tank when I sat closer to the front of the seat made me worry about getting cold burns. The heat from the radiator hose on the left calf and from the bottom of the tank when you sit closer to the front of the seat can cause low temperature burns, but it gets better when you sit closer to the back of the seat.
Gear selection at very low speedsWhen it comes to moving through detailed streets in the city, first gear is too low and second gear is too high. It would be nice if second gear was a little wider at the bottom. This is not a good setting for moving around the city center office area when traveling for work.
something (equipped) with legsYou can put both feet on the ground, but it's not a perfect fit. ..... As a short-legged person, there is a considerable risk of falling when there is a slope on the sidewalk side or when one foot is on the gravel.
Price: .....It is indeed a great motorcycle. But the price tag of buying two Ninja 1000s is just too heavy........
A wide variety of complex electronic controlsIt has a variety of electronic controls, starting with the Riding Mode Control, which allows you to change engine and suspension characteristics at the touch of a button even while riding, to ABS control during cornering. All of the individual functions are great, but I'm doing SE-like work."There is almost no such thing as a bug-free program."As someone who has experienced it firsthand, I can tell you thatWould you trust your life to Italian-made electronics and controls?I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some prejudiced concerns about this......
When I returned it, I changed my mind a little.
I've just returned the Multistrada and am writing this after returning home with the Ninja 400 that I left at the store. When I returned my previous two bikes, the Bandit 1250F and the Ninja 1000, I could see that the Ninja 400 was lacking in some areas, which made me more enthusiastic about the big bike, but not this time.
Perhaps it was because the Multistrada was too high-spec for me, but as soon as I started riding the Ninja 400, I thought, "This is good enough for me. The Multistrada is also available as a rental bike, so I can rent it if I want to. The Multistrada is also available as a rental bike, so I could rent it if I wanted to, but in many ways it is too luxurious to own.
When I go to buy a fountain pen, I try out Parker and Mont Blanc, and I know they're great, but they're too extravagant for me to use, so I end up buying a LAMY Safari ..... Like that.
