So, it's been a while since I've done any chain maintenance.
If you do it, it's easy to finish, but it's tedious and you tend to skip it....... But if you don't do it, you'll feel completely different when you're running.
The procedure is like this.
First, put the front brake on. I always keep a girl's hair elastic from the convenience store in my seat bag for convenience, so I use it.
The tools look like this. Chain cleaner, chain lube, brushes, gloves and cardboard to prevent splattering. ThisBrushes from three directionsIt is also highly recommended as it makes cleaning the back side of the chain easier.
Put the cardboard against the back of the chain and apply the chain cleaner first. I let it sit for a few minutes and then scrubbed with a brush. The rear tire was floating, so it was easy to rotate the tire by hand.
When you're done cleaning, spray the lube. I'm a fan of spraying liberally and wiping off the excess with a rag at the end.
And then it was over. About 15 minutes so far. Easy peasy. If you run before the chain lube is acclimated, it will fly off, so it's best not to ride for a few hours.
The tools are super useful.
