Passing through the four-wheel booth
About 50 minutes after I entered the venue, I received a work email while I was wandering around the booths of motorcycle manufacturers. I decided to leave the venue because it seemed like something I should take care of in a hurry and I didn't like crowds, so it was getting a bit painful to stay at the venue.
I got to see a whole lot of bike-related stuff, especially new bikes and concept bikes that had just been announced and could only be seen here, so that was good.
However, today was the preview day. It would be a bit strange to pay double the admission fee for a general public day and not see any four-wheeled vehicles.
I remembered that there was also an OHLINS booth, so I headed that way, passing through the four-wheel booths as I headed for the exit.
So, I'm going to look at the suspension as I pass by and increase my enthusiasm for installing OHLINS front and rear.
Interest in cars
I have loved cars since I was a kid. I was the kind of kid who could tell you the name of 99% of the cars on the street.
The venture company where I made my debut as a member of society had a lot of Bentley, Lamborghini Diablo Iota, Lotus Elise, and Lamborghini Cheetah lined up in the parking lot.....
As for driving, when I heard about my brother's wedding in Nagasaki, I drove from Tokyo, and in the days of 1,000 yen highways, I even drove myself from Aomori in the north to Kumamoto in the south.
On my mixi profile at the time, I wrote, "500km one way is like a walk.
But what's the matter? I don't feel like looking at the four-wheel booth at all this time.
There are too many people to take a good look, but there are no cars that I want right now......
As I walked through the booths, I just took a few pictures......
It's completely infected with the two-wheeled germ......
Kore.... I want it. PartI
In the midst of all this, there were barely two cars that I wanted! I saw two cars that I wanted to buy. The first was this one.
VISION COUPE
It's a concept car that's a design study for the RX-9 that people keep saying is coming.
It's a four-door with this styling.
In fact, there was a time when I was addicted to renting cars, and I have probably driven about 50 different cars in total. Among them"I don't want to return it!"The RX-8 is the first car that I thought.
I was able to compare a large number of rental cars, and I felt that the entire lineup of cars, not just specific models, was a good choice."Creating a car that is fun to drive"At the time, Mazda was undoubtedly the only manufacturer that was doing this.
The next Axela concept, which was just around the corner, also has a sexy shape.
However, the RX-9 will be in the over 10 million class when it goes on sale, and it's too big to drive around Japan's mountain passes, so I don't think I'll have any luck with it.....
Kore.... I want it. PartII
Yes, small cars are on my mind these days. This is the one that made me gush the most at the four-wheel booth this time.
Honda Sports EV Concept
While the design of production cars is becoming over-decorated, perhaps with an eye on the Asian market centered on China, a simple, clean, and retro-looking small car like this resonates with the current generation of wosans.
It's a concept car for electric vehicles. Recently, when I drive around Tokyo, especially in the Minato, Shibuya, and Chiyoda areas, I keep running into TESLA.
My friends have gone for test drives and seem to be stimulated by the desire for things, but I have no interest in EVs themselves.....
I'm the type of person who focuses on the presence of the engine in the car, as if to say, "If it's the same quality, I'll choose a four-cylinder instead of a six-cylinder.
The Future of EVs
Nevertheless, the wave of EVs is unstoppable...... I don't think that internal combustion engine cars and motorcycles will disappear while I am still able to drive myself, but I can't help but think that EVs will become the mainstream because, unlike gasoline engines, they have low development hurdles and can be developed (≠ produced) at low cost.
Infrastructure will be developed under the government's initiative, and with the advancement of batteries and motors, issues such as cruising range and charging time will be solved.
If this is the case, gasoline-powered cars, which are noisy, uncomfortable to drive, and harsh on the environment, may become as hated as cigarettes are today.......
In at least 50 years, the number of companies that will be able to spend money on developing new gasoline engines will be significantly reduced, so cars and motorcycles with internal combustion engines will not be able to survive."Ultra-low-cost vehicles for developing countries"and"A hobby vehicle for the wealthy"I think it will be polarized into two.
That's why I'm going to continue to ride cars and bikes with fewer cylinders for a while.
