Well, this is the third day I've successfully woken up early... On TV."The pond is drained."It was around eight in the morning when I was looking at the...
Today, I was planning to take the Suruga Bay Ferry back to the Izu Peninsula, but the departure time was 10:45 am. The navigation system indicated that we would arrive at the port a little after 10:00 a.m., even if we took ordinary roads, so we took it easy. We took the expressway to give ourselves a little extra time, but...This is where the refueling light comes on.
I left my phone in my pocket without mounting it and used the intercom for voice navigation, so I couldn't see the next SA on the screen... Or rather, there was a change in the law that made it a violation to do so while driving at high speed, so I had no choice... Well, I think I can last long enough to get on the ferry and go to the gas station in Doi, but just in case, I got off the highway, drove on the open road for a while, and refueled at a gas station I saw.
In addition, I go to the bathroom and check the remaining distance on my phone screen... What? I'm not sure how long it'll take to get there if I take the open road from here. If Shimizu city is crowded, I'm out of luck. The estimated time of arrival was displayed on the screen.
I'll have to keep my phone mounted on the steering wheel so that I can see the estimated time of arrival and a wide area map....
Boarding at the last minute
So when I arrived at the ferry terminal, the motorcycles had already finished boarding and the four-wheelers had already started boarding... But I asked the attendant, "I can't do it anymore, can I? But when I asked the attendant, "Is it impossible to get on the boat now?", he got in touch with the ship's staff by radio and said, "It's OK if you buy a ticket on board.
We boarded the boat safely. If we had missed it, the next ferry would have been more than two hours later, so we were very grateful.
I bought a ticket on the ship. I also bought a special room ticket for 500 yen....
As soon as we sat down, the ship left the harbor.
If you have a special room, you'll get free coffee, so it's practically a free seat.
So we enjoyed a comfortable boat ride of a little over an hour, occasionally going outside to look at the sea and Mt.
And we'll see cherry blossoms from New Year's again this year.
After getting off the boat, we went to this place, which is also an annual event.
I think the Doi cherry blossoms here are the first to bloom every year. At the time of the Doi Cherry Blossom Festival, the main venue, Matsubara Park, was completely empty, but here there were only a few blossoms....
I highly recommend it as a resting point for touring Nishi-Izu in early January.
I'll be back after I eat... I'm lost.
After admiring the cherry blossoms, it was time for lunch. I went to the usual Okiagari Restaurant....
I went there for a bowl of rice topped with squid, but I saw a blackboard in the restaurant listing boiled kinmede, so I ordered that.
It's the head side, so to speak."simmered sea bream with kabuto"But this was super delicious.
After eating dinner, we headed home. The temperature drops drastically when the sun goes down, and I didn't want to cross Hakone when it was completely dark.
First, we drove in the direction of the Nishi-Izu Skyline to the Nishina Pass, a comfortable winding road.
I thought I'd take the open road from here to Shuzenji and Atami, but then I realized I'd entered the grounds of a villa... As usual, I wasn't looking at the screen of my smartphone navigation system, so I was driving around in a closed area without knowing where I was... We lost a bit of time, so we decided to take the Izu Skyline home....
New Year's Touring to End with Mt.
We end our trip with an evening view of Fuji from the Izu Skyline.
From the Atami Pass, we got off the Hakone New Road and headed for Tomei from Odata-Atsu. The Hakone-Shindo road was quite crowded, but since it was a motorcycle, we were able to get through smoothly.
As expected, my fingertips are cold at night on the highway, so I've been using only a Heatech jacket and a grip heater to get by.
After 7:00 p.m., we returned home to finish our New Year's touring.
