Well, I've been absent from the blog for almost a month, but... I've already completed the suspension overhaul of my Ninja 650 in mid-January.
This is the area where the work was done this time.
Front fork O/H repair (including seals and oil)
Steering stem O/H repair (complete set of races, including bearings and seals)
Swing arm pivot: check and repair (including bearings and seals)
Rear shock (OHLINS) O/H (outsourced shipping)
By the time I got home from the bike shop, I felt like, "You're getting younger! That's how I felt. The car was washed as part of the maintenance process, and since the parts were taken apart and washed, even the inner part of the swingarm was clean, which is hard to reach with a normal car wash.
I came home in a good mood and observed the various parts of the bike. The other day I rode my bike to a work meeting, so I stopped by a gas station and changed the air pressure from the standard setting (F2.25/R2.5) to a higher setting (F2.4/R2.8) and roamed around Tokyo.
Before the overhaul, the suspension felt like it was flapping when the air pressure was increased, and I wondered if it would be better to use the standard air pressure. But now that the suspension has been strengthened, it seems to be able to accept the rebound force of the tires more beautifully, and the ride is more supple. The ground contact feeling is also noticeably improved. Even when driving in the city, you can see that lane changes are very precise.
This is a good state to be in.
Feel of cost.
I can't find the receipt, but I think the total cost was less than 130,000 yen. The total cost was a little less than 130,000 yen, I think. Well, it was just as I had estimated beforehand, and after all, I had gotten preliminary estimates from two other stores, but there was no big discrepancy.
However, this is the one that cost more than I expected.
The OHLINS rear shocks were sent to Labo Carrozzeria, the head office of Ohlins sales in Japan, to be dealt with. Normally, a single rear shock would cost over 20,000 yen, but since the shaft was damaged, it had to be replaced... And so
In the end, it cost me about 35,000 yen.
Well, when I looked at the returned parts, they were indeed scratched, but... When did this happen?
In addition, it seems that the slide metal, seals, and rubber parts have been completely replaced, and the internal oil and nitrogen have been replaced and refilled, so the price is reasonable.
After 25,000 km of driving, I felt that I may need to have the carburetor replaced in a shorter period of time. What a costly child!
The next maintenance is around here.
With a mild winter, the touring season is going to start earlier than usual, and I'll have my first vehicle inspection in June this year, so I'm thinking that this is the next maintenance point.
Wheel bearings + hub dampers (+ chromoly shafts)
Tire Replacement
Chain and sprocket
When I visited the KOOD booth at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, I saw a chromoly shaft that was compatible with the Ninja 650 (ER-6f), but now I see on the website that the Ninja 650 is not listed. If you have one in stock, I'd love to replace it. Previous tire changeThis time, I'm going to go for a more sporting tire, just a little bit more, really. I'm going to go with a more sporting tire.
I think I'll do this area near the end of the term sale.
So that's good! But... I haven't been able to ride it....
But you know what? I haven't gone out touring even once since the overhaul was completed... It's been over a month....
There are several reasons for this, but the biggest reason is work. My company is in the midst of a petite Olympic bubble, and work has been super busy, and one of my clients said to me, "We don't want you to get hurt on your bike right now. Is it possible to ask you to hold off?" I was told something like that... I can't just ride around like that... The initial development will be settled by the end of February, and then the project will be able to proceed without me... I'll be patient until then....orz
That's why I've been using four wheels to get around....
[Note]: There was a statement.
It looks like this.
Ah, yes. I also changed the plugs and air filter.
