When I go out on my motorcycle, I turn on the GPS and keep a movement log in Google Maps.
It's also convenient to be able to check on the site later while specifying the time period, and to be able to go back and check, "Oh, by the way, what was the route like at that time? As long as you remember the date, you can go back and check. For example, you can check the route of your touring trip last fall at any time like this.
"Where was that road we were on?" And questions like that are solved.
You can also specify a time period to plot the places you have visited. The annual data for 2019 and 2020 looks like this. Last year, when there was no COVID-19, you ran all over the place....
Recently, I've been using this together. It's a little more fun with video.
I still keep a record of my touring on Google Maps, but recently I've been generating videos like this at the same time. As you can see in my blog, if you turn on the app while riding, you can make a video like this later.
A so-called logger app. Of course, you can refer to the route record as well as the video in the app.
I use a guy called Relive.
The app I use is called Relive.
You can also use it for free, but there are some limitations such as not being able to choose your favorite music, and not being able to make videos of past routes (you can only do that when the recording is finished), so I subscribe to the paid plan.
You can also generate videos from GPX logs, so if you import other logger apps or use a service that generates GPX logs from Google Map route display, you can make videos of your past tours later. I haven't tried it yet.
The video also shows the highest elevation and the difference in elevation, but actually it also records the highest speed... I've hidden it in the video.
