As I wrote two years ago... Protectors are a must
Come to think of it, it was about two years ago."I don't ride without a protector. I won't let you ride."I wrote an article about it.
At that time, I had no experience of crashing, although I had one standing injury in my college days and one when I was renting a bike right after my return. Also.I had been riding my bike for 60,000km without even a hint of falling over.
And after that, I didn't feel any anxiety at all, except for the standing moss.Since I switched to a Ninja 650 last year. I've only ridden 15,000km (less than 20,000km if you include rental bikes)......
First fall: Tiredness on the second day of touring and neglecting to check my footing in the rain.
This is the first long touring trip after delivery of the Ninja 650, and it was a tragedy just after the 1,600km break-in was completed.More details can be found in this article.
Second fall: I was distracted by an oncoming car and overlooked a sign on the shoulder of the road.
andnow。It's been a long time since I've taken the Ninja 650 out for a ride as I've been touring with a rental bike.......
And the protector is installed.
And now. In fact, I never ride without wearing a jacket with a protector on my upper body, even in the middle of summer, and I never ride without safety shoes or summer riding shoes.
But what about knee guards? ... As you can see, I don't wear knee guards when I go to work in Tokyo, as I sometimes have meetings at the client's office..... In the event that you've got a lot of money, you'll be able to make use of it for a lot of things.
But that's what caused it in the first place....
By the way, I was personally shocked by this crash. I'm sure I've had a lot of similar situations after my return because I like to deliberately wander into random mountain roads, but I was so proud of my ability to ride properly in these situations....
So why did I fall twice in the 15,000km since I switched to the Ninja 650? Well, the reason is obvious.
- I was too proud of my familiarity with the vehicle to check the road surface and signs.
- Both times, with a few breaks.(Feeling a little tired (but not really)I had a hard time concentrating because of
I think that's what it means. Of course, my reflexes and reaction time are lower than when I was younger, but I don't run recklessly and I thought I had a safety margin appropriate for my age.
But the thing is..."I was basing it on when I was in perfect physical condition."So that's what it was all about. This.
If I were to tour 500 to 600 kilometers a day at my driving pace, and that mainly down the road, I would have to take more breaks.
As I mentioned earlier, this fall was quite a shock and I was wondering if I should get off the bike or refrain from long touring. I've been thinking about it.
But I've already booked a room in Yamagata for the three-day weekend in July.
I would like to reflect a little more on things and try to be safer and in better physical condition to enjoy my motorcycle life...orz
