I have two ex-family members. And I have four cats at the latest ex-family member's place... It's complicated, isn't it?
I've given up custody of the child, so the family of five lives in an apartment that I pay the mortgage on. I have written on this blog from time to time that I sometimes go to visit them or do pet-sitting duties when my former family members are away on business or back home.
I just got a notification that Google Photo has created an automatic movie, and it looks like this.
There were three American Shorthair parents and their children, and one former stray.
My third son is not feeling well.
However, near the end of the year, a former family member informed me that her third son's condition was not quite right and that she had taken him to a nearby vet several times, but he had not improved.
To begin with, my third son was born without one eye and with tetralogy of Fallot (pulmonary artery stenosis/aortic riding/ventricular septal defect/right ventricular hypertrophy). He had a heart murmur that you could feel with your hand, so the vet said, "It might be a little difficult."
A seven-hour surgery using an artificial heart, the first of its kind in Japan, almost eliminated the heart problem. He is now 13 years old, even though it was said that he would not last more than half a year. He is still alive and well today. It seems to have been a major event in veterinary medicine, and he was interviewed on TV.
Up until the year before last, I had been undergoing annual checkups for ten years without fail.
However, cats are very patient animals. In most cases, when humans notice that they are sick, it is quite serious. I was worried about him this time, so I took him to a highly advanced vet on Sunday morning. At the initial consultation, we discussed the details of the examination, and if we did everything we could, it would cost about as much as buying a used YAMAHA Serow. However, you can't trade life for money, so I went to a nearby convenience store and operated an ATM....
I was told that it would take three to four hours, so I went for a walk along the riverbank with my ex-family member, had some tea, and came back.
A tumor suspected to be malignant was found on the inside of the ribs, in the lung area, and a CT scan and MRI examination would be done after the results of the current examination and the cytological results of the biopsy tissue were available.
When I had heart surgery 13 years ago, I had a medical team from Kitasato University in Aomori, and I had to find a hospital that had an artificial heart for small animals that could handle cats, which was the only one in Japan at the time. No, financially speaking, it might be a bit difficult from now on... I plan to use the money for my third son's medical treatment.
For both cats and humans, health comes first.
As a matter of fact, one of my former family members also had an experience of surviving a serious disease that had killed all the people who had been affected in the past at a certain university hospital in Tokyo. I myself had an experience of surviving an intractable disease that had no cure more than 10 years ago.
There is no better asset than good health for both humans and animals. I have talked to my former family members and will do my best to support my third son for the time being.
