Since my return, I have been out for New Year's Eve touring.
In 2016 and 2017, I went around the Izu Peninsula, and in 2018, I took a ferry from Doi to Shimizu Port and went around Lake Hamana.
At this time of the year, I can't go up in elevation because I'm worried about freezing, so I can't crawl along the mountain roads, but it was still my first time in the area, and I had a lot of fun touring around Lake Hamanako.
Usually, I book the accommodation in advance, but this year I have no plan. I thought I'd take the Ocean Toku Ferry to Tokushima or Kitakyushu and do some touring in Shikoku or Kyushu... I had a fantasy that I would take the Ocean Toukyu Ferry to Tokushima OR Kitakyushu and do some touring in Shikoku OR Kyushu, but I forgot to make a reservation in the flurry of activity at the end of the year.
Well, I'll go to Higashi-Izu to see the first sunrise, but beyond that... it's a game of chance. If you can stay 3 nights, you can take a ferry from Wakayama to Tokushima.
The weather... I can't read it.
So, the reason why I'm not rushing to find a place to stay right now is because... It's been all over the news, but there's a big cold wave forecast for this year-end and New Year's, and even the flatlands on the Pacific coast are expected to get snow.
When I went to Gifu with summer tires, it suddenly started snowing, and when I entered the tunnel, it was frozen, so I had a big ass shaking counter competition, almost causing an accident... After that, it quickly piled up about 10cm and I drove around crying... And when I came out of a hot spring in Hakone, it started snowing heavily and it took me 8 hours to get back to Tokyo.... But with a motorcycle, you're stuck.
I'll think about it until the last minute....
